Doud Brenson Brenson Doud Dies at 61 Near Chili

Brenson Doud, 61, prominent farmer living two miles north of Chili, died Thursday at 6:45 PM after fourteen months illness. Funeral Saturday at 3 PM from his residence, conducted by Rev. Park of Denver and Rev. J.B. Cook of Warsaw. Burial in Chili cemetery. Born near Chili in 1859, he married Ida May Robins in 1885. Survived by widow and children Lorenzo, Emma, Even tua, Elizabeth, and Wilbert Doud, plus Lucian Doud, Mrs. Richard Robins, and Mrs. Olive Murphy. one brother and two sisters.

Indiana to issue new combination hunting and fishing licenses

The state department of conservation will distribute 116000 new combination licenses to county clerks and agents. Last October 106000 licenses were sold out by Aug 1. Resident licenses are canary color and non resident licenses pale green. The licenses do not include a laws synopsis on the reverse side per division chief George N Mannfeld due to possible law revisions.

Musselman Party Plans Dodgeville Visit And Camping Trip

Dr and Mrs G W Musselman and children Donald and Maxine along with Mr and Mrs Fred Landis of Peru left Denver for a few days vacation. They will visit Dodgeville Wisconsin to see Dr Warn and wife and travel with a full camping outfit planning to do most meals themselves.

Denver Men in Auto Accident Near Peru

Charles Hoover manager of Denver Co-Operative Telephone Co and Jesse Miller were hurt when Hoover lost control near Pipe Creek Falls southwest of Peru. Miller uninjured. Hoover suffered two fractured ribs. They were later helped by Peru residents Fultz Castin and Pontius whose car then went into a ditch. all injured were taken to Peru and Hoover to Denver for treatment.

Chili Old Settlers Picnic Returns After Year Gap

After a one year lapse the Chili Old Settlers Picnic will be held at Flora grove one mile south of Chili along the Winona Interurban Line next Saturday August 28. A new organization revived the event and officials expect crowds equal to or greater than previous years. The selected grove is described as ideal and permanent stands will be erected to ensure a pleasant day for attendees.

The ice cream social at Mexico Baptist Church last Wednesday evening was financially successful. The Denver Merchants Band performed and their share of the proceeds totaled 47.50, pleasing attendees with quality music and solid results.

Injured in Collision in Rochester

Mrs. Lewis Gustin is slowly recovering from a Sunday accident after a car on the wrong side cut in front of their vehicle during a Rochester aeroplane exhibition visit. The Gustins’ car sustained minor damage while Mr Gustin remained unhurt. Mrs Gustin suffered a brief memory lapse but is recovering from the shock.

Health is good in Twelve Mile and threshing is nearly done as oats crop proves strong. The Twelve Mile Elevator Co pays sixty cents a bushel for oats. John Teel sold a 38 acre Adams Township farm near the Twelve Mile Christian Church for 5000 dollars to Mr. Shard. The Northwestern Indiana Christian Conference at Burrows was its 76th session August 17 18 and 19 with strong attendance and officers re-elected. The writer visited Burrows Camden Logansport and Twelve Mile, noting residents Charley and Hugh Skinner.
