Taylor to Return to Kentucky for Trial After Election

The Louisville Post reports former Governor W S Taylor will return to Kentucky from Indianapolis for trial on complicity in the Gobel murder case after the November election. Change of venue likely to move the case to Louisville. Taylor says he will return for a fair trial and bail if possible.

Body Found Floating in Michigan City Harbor

A man believed to be Claude Washburn of South Hend, Indiana, was found dead in the Michigan City harbor. A card in his pocket identified him as a member of Electrical Workers Union No. 182 for three years, and it is suspected he worked on a traction line. He appeared to be about 40 years old.

Boy Climbs 600 Feet Cliff in California Rescue

Irving Spalding, 15, son of A. F. Spalding of Springfield New Jersey, spent a day on a 600 foot cliff ledge near Los Angeles. He could not descend, a rescue party below lowered a rope from 100 feet above, and he was pulled to safety after two hours. He is reported all right aside from fright and strain.

Aged Beneficiary Dies After Girls Compact Payout

Mrs. Margaret Castens, 04 years old, who received 15000 from a German convent pact of sixty five girls, died at her daughter's home in St Louis. Seventy five years earlier she studied near Stuttgart. The classmates agreed to fund a Berlin bank, and the last survivor would collect the amount. Three years ago she was told she would receive only a few thousand, but the payout exceeded 15000.

Missouri Boy 19 Confesses Killing Father in Quarrel

Mutiny on a Nome whaler quelled after fierce fight

The crew of the whaler TRowhead owned by Lieber & Co. mutinied at Fort Clarence near Nome, attacking Captain James A. Tilden and officers in a one hour battle. The captain won, the mutineers were jailed, and the ship’s fire was suppressed after they attempted to burn the vessel following demands to go ashore for gold fields.

Old Attorney Guilty in Plot to Take Life

Chicago's oldest practicing lawyer Moses J. Brown aged 88 was found guilty by a jury in Judge Windes court of conspiring to take the life of Mrs Annie Nolain. Associate lawyers Mrs Huth Laughlin and Austin Kelly were fined or sentenced to the penitentiary for one to five years. Brown received a $1000 fine and his associates were imprisoned. The case will be appealed as the defendants were accused of plotting to seize Mrs Nolain's property.

Tornado Hits Mandan Nebraska Town Damages Buildings

A tornado struck Mandan N B causing extensive damage with trees and buildings affected for an estimated 50000 dollars. A boy was lifted by the wind and carried three blocks, suffering serious bruising. Elizabeth M. Stewart known as Mother Stewart, famed temperance advocate, died at her Hicksville Ohio home at age 92.
