A Catholic priest obtained diamonds recovered from a thief in a case linked to William Washburn & Co of Anderson. The burglaries happened July 8, with no eyewitnesses. Washburn, from Chicago, will not prosecute the penitent thief.
In Lawton Oklahoma Territory a movement forms among homeseekers who missed the recent land drawing to urge opening three reserves in the Lawton district totaling about 8380 quarter sections. The aim is to petition the interior department to release the lands used for cattle pastures in Kiowa Comanche country.
