Mrs. Murphy Dies in South Denver
Mrs. Frank Murphy dies at her home in South Denver after a brief illness from internal rupture of a blood vessel. She arose early, suffered severe side pains at noon, and died within two hours before Dr. Griswold could reach from Peru. Funeral services held Monday at home and Denver Baptist Church with burial in the I O O F Cemetery.

Missionary Society Reports August Activities and Festival
The Women's Baptist Missionary Society met at Mrs Jettie Murphy's for an all day session with scripture read by Mrs Vesta Zook and prayers led by Mrs Jettie Murphy and Minnie Tharp. Donations totaled 14.63 with flowers. Forty four members attended and they planned an August 20 festival on the Haines lawn with ice cream cake and popcorn, inviting all.

Mrs. Levi Armantrout was taken to Woodlawn Hospital Rochester where surgeons Dr Shaffer Dr Taylor Macy and Dr Waymire Denver removed two large tumors from her side. She had been in poor health and showed rapid recovery after the operation.

Drowned while swimming Velma Eikenberry 14 at Lake Elberta
Velma Eikenberry daughter of Lon and Clara of Elberta Michigan drowned Sunday July 3 while swimming at Lake Heron near town. She was born September 9 1906 in Peru Indiana and died July 24 1921 at age 14 years 10 months. She was an active Sunday School worker organist and a top student who passed eighth grade with honors. Her funeral was held in Elberta last Thursday.

Dessia Benner Murphy born April 25 1886 died August 5 1921 at home in Denver Indiana aged 35 years 3 months 20 days. She married Frank J Murphy September 1908 and left four children Pauline 8 Maude 5 Walter 2 Ralph 14 from a former marriage. She leaves husband parents one brother Clearance of Detroit and half brother Ollie of North Dakota with many relatives and friends. Dessie will be greatly missed by family neighbors and community where she lived. A place is vacant in our home.
