Omer Balsbaugh, eighteen, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Balsbaugh living south of town, died Thursday morning at home after a three week typhoid illness. Fever broke Sunday but a paralysis stroke Wednesday led to his death. Funeral and burial were at Mexico. He was a well regarded young man with many friends and the family receives deep sympathy.

Lee Grimes son of Mr and Mrs C E Grimes and a Denver figure was accidentally shot in the leg by a fifteen year old boy near New Waverly. The bullet from a 22 caliber rifle lodged near the body but could not be found by Dr Line of Chili. Grimes rested at home Tuesday night and is expected to recover and resume duties at the New Waverly store.
A local ad notes unusually low prices on women's oxford shoes with pairs advertised at $2.25, marked down from values up to $4.50, from L. and M. Shoe Co.
Mr E Church hosts Sunday School at 9 30 with preaching at 10 30. Evening Epworth League holds a devotional meeting at 6 30 pm followed by a meeting Thursday evening at 7 30.

The act includes 23 animal cages, a 27 foot snake, hybrids and primates, a traveling show with military band organ. Peru Home Coming August 8 to 14 features Tony and the wild animal exhibition.

Ote Matthias wife and daughter from Indianapolis visited Frank Matthias and sisters Saturday. Carl Lantz guest of his sister in Indianapolis Sunday. Mrs. Henry Lee and sons spent Monday with Mrs. Sarah Berger. Horace Smith and wife of North Manchester visited the former’s parents Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Smith. Mrs. Nona Sullivan visited her mother Mrs. Danes s in Peru last week. Abe Mohler and wife and the Misses Lizzie and Zella Hoovers attended basket meeting at Skinner’s Chapel Sunday. Mrs W T See and children and Mrs Grover See spent Sunday with S D Berger and family. W D Ream and wife visiting relatives at Argos. Simon Berger of Gilead visited his grandmother this week. John Matthias spent Sunday with his brother Frank Matthias and sisters. John Lee and wife of Deedsville and Elmer Lantz and wife spent Sunday with PS Sullivan and family. CO Derek left Sunday for a month westward trip visiting uncle Al Derek in South Dakota.
