Lincoln in life and death a simple hero of the people
A poem praising Abraham Lincoln as a plain, honest, generous leader who treated all with kindness. It lauds his stature of character over physical height and notes his humility, mercy, and unyielding integrity. The piece likens his influence to a mantle passed to future generations and questions who could wear it as well.
