Car Runs Away Through Peru Injuring Foreman
A motorcar used by the L. E. & W. section gang escaped at Doyle and sped toward Peru at about twenty miles per hour. It crossed streets and the depot, then collided with a switch engine at the round house. The car and engine suffered damage. O. P. Cover, the section foreman, was slightly injured by a rail strike that started the runaway.

Tragic Child Burned to Death Near Mexico
Five year old Damarius Joine Richardson died after a coal oil fire explosion started by a parent left the home embers burning. The girl ran ignited clothes to the exterior as her mother tried to douse the flames. Funeral services were held at the Mexio Dunkard church with burial in the local cemetery.

Freight Derailment Delays Rochester Rail Service
A northbound freight derailed six cars near Rochester after a brake beam failed between rails north of the depot.
