On Wednesday at seven o'clock the ceremony took place at the residence of Mr and Mrs Cornelius Bell in South Denver. Elbert A Zook performed the rite in the presence of about thirty guests including Mrs Ella Yeakley and other neighbors. A wedding supper with cream and cake followed as the couple arranged house keeping in Richland township a mile north west of Denver in the Bell home.
A large audience attended the APS event with Mrs Marsden in charge though she was hoarse from a cold. She offered two selections The Church and the World and Lasca while Miss Vernie Dewald and Miss Berkheiser delivered excellent recitations. Dottie and Fostia Cole recited well and Flora Myers voluntary drew praise. Clarence Ream aided on violin for Marsden’s Sunset on the Sea, cited by many as the best feature. The choir delivered a strong Easter Anthem and overall the program was a decided success.
Frank Henderson formerly of Mexico now residing in North Manchester Indiana will lecture on the Temperance Problem at the M E church in Denver Monday night April 11 at 7 30 and at Chili M E church Sunday night April 10 at 7 30 He is described as a total cripple with a strong physique and mind and represents a major reform movement He will accept a free will offering to cover expenses
Town merchants favor a weekly free band concert each Saturday night in summer to attract visitors from the country and honor Denver as a welcoming place. The plan envisions small merchant contributions to cover costs, hoping concerts enliven the town and keep trade alive while signaling Denver is still on the map.
Hr J Meredith was the target of a clever April Fool prank at Culver last Friday. A post office package labeled Weather Prognostication arrived with postage due and revealed a small box containing a harmless caterpillar, mocking his winter prophesy about a mild season. He plans to sell merchandise and let Hicks handle weather.
Word arrived yesterday of Edward Moon's death in Kansas City. His brother Mack Moon of Peru left for Kansas City to bring the body home. They expect to arrive Saturday at 10 40 a m and the funeral will be at Denver Baptist church at one o clock p m with Rev D W Sanders presiding.
The grand millinery opening at the new store above Mr. J. E. Milliran's grocery runs Thursday through Saturday April 14 15 and 16. Ladies are invited to attend. Mrs. Geo. Martinpacr and Miss Pearl Parker are mentioned as hosts or attendees.
John Peterson reports a hog found alive under a hay mow at Bass Lake on land rented from S. A. Craigmile. The animal, under eight months buried since last July, created a circular earth trace around an upright post. The mystery of how the hog survived in a sand knoll mow spans months.
Mrs Uiy Long visited friends in Macy on Sunday. Charles Mohler of Gilead visits his brother O L Mohler and wife. Clifford Newell accepted a job at Joe Haney's drug store in Peru. Mrs Charles Bowman of Peru guests of Lon Dewald and wife. Mrs Mary Champ of Macy visits sister Mrs Elizabeth Ward. Jesse Graft of West Alexandria visits B F Derek and family. C W Newman and wife of Culver guests of H J Meredith. Mr C Bell Mrs May Howes and N Bell and wife attend Miss Maudheim funeral at Chili. Grant Moon goes to Adamsboro as Denver Baptist church delegate for ordination. H M Overly and family of Peru and Charles Derek and family hosted by B F Derek. J W Warrens shoe shop sells patent leather polish. Mrs and Mrs George Martindale of Rochester here to prepare room above Milliron's for a millinery shop.
