Mr and Mrs C O Derck share a letter from their son Grimes Derck of Denver about maple syrup sent home. Grimes explains he asked syrup be mailed to Mr Griffiths’s address to benefit him during a planned April visit, rather than sending it to his naval post.
In East Lansdowne Pennsylvania on April 1 1922 a letter recounts visits by Grimes and Lloyd two Navy Y M C A boys connected to Hopkinsville Kentucky. It notes Lloyds discouragement and Grimes frequent correspondence and a Christmas visit that felt homelike as the writer kept track of both youths and their separations after transfers from Philadelphia Yard to Brooklyn.
Mrs M J Whitmore writes from Pulaski New York dated March 28 1922 to the Dices noting renewed Tribune subscription and interest in Denver letters. She describes mild winter with one January blizzard, spring arrival, autos replacing sleighs, local dairy work milking 35 cows, evangelistic meetings by Mr Strathearn, Kerr brothers two years ago, and good health while planning to write again if not discarded.
Bruce A Kelley of Butler township enters the Democratic primary race for Miami county sheriff. A well known longtime resident, Kelley is admired across central and southern Miami county for his public spirit and respected character.
A baby girl was born to Mr. and Mrs Tod Boyer on Saturday April 1. The infant weighed 7 pounds 4 ounces and was named Elizabeth Jane Boyer. The newborn was formerly known as Maudie and resides with her family.
Sunday night a large barn on Lee Hay's farm one mile north of Denver burned completely. Neighbors saved all livestock but several chickens as flames spread from a bright glow seen by Mr. Hay. Origin remains a mystery. damage estimated at about 5000 dollars, partly insured.
J A Hostetler, a Miami county farmer and school teacher, is announced as a Republican nominee for sheriff. A Erie township resident and son of a Civil War veteran, he is described as an honest, hard working man with strong support from many neighbors who know his sterling character.
The union prayer meeting for next Sunday afternoon will be held at the home of Mrs. Rebecca Stoffer at 2 30 o clock with Charles F Golden as leader. These meetings are increasing in attendance and are proving very helpful to those who attend. You are urged to attend and assist in the upbuilding of God's Kingdom. Your presence is very much desired.
Through courtesy of Hon. Milton Kraus a consignment of garden seeds from the Agricultural Department is offered free to readers who call at the Tribune office. Supplies are limited, so call early to secure a package.
The Jefferson Two High School production Deacon Dubbs staged at the Mexico school building on Thursday evening drew a large crowd despite severe weather. Proceeds exceeded 6400 dollars, marking a financially and artistically successful event.

Mrs Ira Friend celebrated her 73rd birthday Sunday April 2 at her East Harrison home with a surprise party. Guests from Denver Rochester Mexico Peru joined in a noon cafeteria style dinner, with family and friends sharing baskets of food.
Joseph Sell of Peru announces his candidacy for sheriff in the May primaries. A twenty year Peru resident and eight year city police officer, he presents as a qualified nominee and plans to work hard across the county to gain Democratic backing.
The State Law of Indiana sets town speed limits as 15 mph in residential areas and 10 mph in business districts. Denver town marshals enforce this law and warn drivers to slow down to avoid trouble and expense. Marshal E S Kline signs the notice.
Mr and Mrs Claude Bridegroom returned to Denver from Indianapolis where Mrs Bridegroom underwent a very critical operation at Methodist Hospital. She rallied nicely and has been doing fine. Mrs Bridegroom will stay with her parents in Denver for a few days before returning home near Chili. The community is glad she is back home and wishes her continued good health.

The program shows a lively session with seats guaranteed for all and calls for members to present plans for the coming year. The event caps the current school year and features performances and talks by local creators and students.
Mr and Mrs Russell Long and son Charles of Elkhart visited Denver over the weekend with Mr Longs parents Charles Long and wife and other relatives. They stored furniture in one room at a South Denver house and rent the rest to Glen Shoemaker family. Shoemakers rent their West Denver home to Bumgerdner. Longs will move furniture to Elkhart when a location is found. Mr and Mrs Alonzo Burns bought John Simons property on East Harrison Street and have moved. Merritt Murphy and wife spent Sunday in Peru with Dr and Mrs O B Andreios and were joined by Murphy’s sister Mrs Emaline Norris returning home. See Our Colors in Tae.
