Ae Me Brown and family spent a Sunday evening with Charles Derfer and family, sharing time and hospitality in a neighborhood gathering.
A Jefferson Township school display in Mexico drew high praise for quality work from all schools in the district. Highlights include Denver and Mexico manual training pieces such as stands and library tables, sewing and domestic science items, and a Denver cooking exhibit. A Methodist church program followed, and Trustee A C Baldwin staged a memorable teachers' scolding and chicken dinner.
Mr and Mrs A E Savage of Macy traveled to Denver to pick up Mr O P Cover and wife then proceeded to Peru for the Golden Wedding Anniversary of Mr and Mrs A C Waite. Mr Cover attended the Waite wedding fifty years ago in the Ebenezer neighborhood.
Iva Friend and his wife moved into the Jane Fogle property on East Harrison after trading Mrs. Fogle a West Denver property near Vandalia water tank. Moyer Gray and family moved from the East Harrison home to the former Musselman house on Washington Street.
Mrs. Fern Zook and her son Raymond visited Lucerne last week to spend a few days with her sister Mrs. Maye Howes and family. They returned Friday evening with Mrs. Howes and Ruth. Mr. Howes joined Saturday evening for a brief visit and left Sunday with his wife and daughter.
Mrs. R. R. Steak and her infant accompanied by her baby stayed in North Manchester from Saturday to Tuesday to visit her parents Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wilson.
Akron resident Ted Baber spent Saturday visiting friends in Denver, sharing time with local acquaintances and enjoying the weekend outing in the Mile High City.
J Sparks Charles a 22 year old cashier at the State bank in Mexico drowned in Eel river Sunday afternoon while posing for a Kodak portrait in a canoe with Webster Edwards and son. Charles sank after cramps or a possible heart attack and despite swift rescue attempts his body was found two hours later fifteen feet from the fall point. He had moved to Mexico about three years ago and was taken home to Lafountain Indiana for burial. he was an only child.
Schools in Jefferson township close the year with Mexico and Union ending Tuesday. Courier will close Saturday and Denver will close next Tuesday April 11. All seven month terms in the county ended Tuesday unless make up time was needed.
Carpenters labor on a new bungalow erected by W. T. Lee on West Harrison Street. The basement is completed and he expects to move in soon.

Mr and Mrs Carl Solt and Miss Sylvia Alderfer were shopping in Peru Friday. The brief item notes their outing and confirms local social activity.
The Denver High School commencement will be held at the Brethren Church next Wednesday evening April 12 at eight o'clock. Dr. W F King of Indianapolis will deliver the commencement address on The Future Public Health. Seven graduates are Anna Mae Gustin Sapho Wright Loren T Black Russell Everett Harter Iva Mae Grimes Alma Bishop Baber and Maye Friend.
A large crowd of high school pupils attended an exhibit in Mexico on Friday. The cooking class prepared for the exhibit and a mysterious incident occurred when a spy disappeared then reappeared in a room near the furnace. The students later left after lunch and a door was found locked. The piece ends with a Shakespeare and Washington quote and Denver citizens visiting the school Thursday afternoon.
The Annual Methodist Conference closed in Fort Wayne on Monday evening after final appointments were made. Rev. Jacobs will return to Denver for another year. Nearby appointments include Peru with C. H. Smith, Mexico with T. A. Wimner, Macy with E. H. Kennedy, and Roann with B. C. Bechdelt. Next year’s conference will be held at Huntington.

The Epworth League held a surprise gathering for Mrs. C. C. Pyle on Tuesday evening with refreshments served. Mrs. Pyle plans to leave Denver soon for Peru where Mr. Pyle manages the Harry L. Hagee Harness Shop on East 5th.
Daniel Baker and wife traveled to Logansport on Friday to see their daughter Mrs. Herman Hile. They then spent Saturday in Peru visiting daughter Mrs. Ed Stewart and husband, and on Sunday shared the day with Earl Wilson and family.
