A Jefferson Township school display in Mexico drew high praise for quality work from all schools in the district. Cashier of Mexico Bank Drowns Sunday

J Sparks Charles a 22 year old cashier at the State bank in Mexico drowned in Eel river Sunday afternoon while posing for a Kodak portrait in a canoe with Webster Edwards and son. Charles sank after cramps or a possible heart attack and despite swift rescue attempts his body was found two hours later fifteen feet from the fall point. He had moved to Mexico about three years ago and was taken home to Lafountain Indiana for burial. he was an only child.

Jefferson township schools close year’s work nationwide

Schools in Jefferson township close the year with Mexico and Union ending Tuesday. Courier will close Saturday and Denver will close next Tuesday April 11. All seven month terms in the county ended Tuesday unless make up time was needed.

School Notes Exhibit At Mexico And Dinner Pie Mystery

A large crowd of high school pupils attended an exhibit in Mexico on Friday. The cooking class prepared for the exhibit and a mysterious incident occurred when a spy disappeared then reappeared in a room near the furnace. The students later left after lunch and a door was found locked. The piece ends with a Shakespeare and Washington quote and Denver citizens visiting the school Thursday afternoon.

Methodist Conference Appointments Named for Coming Year

The Annual Methodist Conference closed in Fort Wayne on Monday evening after final appointments were made. Rev. Jacobs will return to Denver for another year. Nearby appointments include Peru with C. H. Smith, Mexico with T. A. Wimner, Macy with E. H. Kennedy, and Roann with B. C. Bechdelt. Next year’s conference will be held at Huntington.

Family visits span three cities this weekend

Daniel Baker and wife traveled to Logansport on Friday to see their daughter Mrs. Herman Hile. They then spent Saturday in Peru visiting daughter Mrs. Ed Stewart and husband, and on Sunday shared the day with Earl Wilson and family.
