Ardella Salb of Jasper won the gold medal as state spelling champion at Indianapolis last Thursday. Naomi Frank of Greenfield finished second and Levin Litzenberger took third. Donald Zook of north of Denver led Miami County entrants, lasting two and a half hours in the contest. The state superintendent praised the contest's beneficial effect on pupil spelling statewide.
