Sunday School Contest Sees Denver Narrow Lead Over Chili

In the Chili Denver Sunday School contest Denver counts 217 scholars and 867 points while Chili has 213 scholars and 852 points. Denver leads Chili by 6 points with both sides aiming for 250 before the end. Each week adds to the total as both schools plan to double their efforts.

Brethren Church Welcomes New Converts at Friday Event

Brethren Church members entertained new converts and Sunday School classes last Friday night March 27. After songs and instrumental music they moved to the basement for refreshments and an old fashion taffy pull with 125 participants enjoying popcorn and maple taffy into the late hour.

Jefferson Township Schools to Close Next Friday

Trustee Charles Simons reports this year has been the best of his term as trustee. A large eighth year class is candidate for graduation and the high school commencement will be held at the Brethren Church next Tuesday evening April 7 at eight o'clock. Denver High School Graduation Plans Set for April 7

The Denver High School graduation exercises will be at the Brethren Church Tuesday evening April 7 at eight o clock. Miss Griffith will give the invocation and music by the Wilson Carpenter Orchestra. Five graduates are Edythe Buber Mildred Gustin Kathryn Balsbaugh Ruth Donaldson and Esther Burkholder. Rev Banks will preach the baccalaureate sermon on April 5 at the Baptist Church.

Commercial Club Meets for Reorganization and Dues

The Commercial Club plans its regular monthly meeting at the I O O F Hall next Wednesday in April. The March session was postponed due to a revival. at this meeting officers will be elected and dues for the coming year collected. The club reports 93 members with 186.00 in dues and fees, expenses of 43.13, balance in treasury 132.87, and outstanding bills 3.00.

Reception for New Members at Methodist Church

The church hosted a rainy Thursday reception for new members with songs, music, recitations, and brief talks. Acel Dukes presented Rev. J B Cook with a handsome umbrella and two fountain pens as thanks.
