Not Too Green He Knew His Exact Position
Francis Kilkenny arrived in Chicago from Ireland five years ago with little money and no job. He bought a second hand lawn mower to earn cash cutting grass on the north side. At a mansion, a man at an upstairs window yelled that the house was closed for the summer Yet Kilkenny persisted and was told to go to the back door by the caretaker. He began circling a tall fence that extended across the property.

Prank Gone Wrong Ends With Mower Trapped on Spike
In a Philadelphia Evening Post account, Kilkenny attempts to jump a fence with a lawn mower, slips, and gets caught on a spike, hanging as a caretaker finds him. A quip from Kilkenny follows about progress. Also noted is a humorous anecdote about Joseph Jefferson and a misfired prayer over a poultice.
