Amended AAA Practical Says Farm Leader
C E Wiese Jr of the Maryland Farm Bureau says the amended Agricultural Adjustment Act should avoid Supreme Court challenges on constitutionality. He notes two aims: protect farmers against adverse rulings and strengthen the farm program linking old laws with updated experience. The amendments limit federal powers, tie the act to interstate commerce with state cooperation, ratify prior taxes and contracts, and boost fiscal controls including customs receipts and processing taxes. The Ever Normal Granary concept is added to store crops on farms to guard against shortages and price volatility. Washington Farm Bureau reps expect careful, businesslike administration.
