Four Oclock Burning Law Goes Into Effect September 15
Walter H Bounds Forest Guard warns fall will be critical due to dry forests from last fall and summer drought. Major fires stem from brush and debris burning. If you burn brush you must create a ten foot fire break around the area and have adequate personnel and tools. Do not burn on windy days. high winds drive large losses. Town Board Asked For Tax Equalization
At the regular meeting of the Commissioners of Denton on Tuesday evening unfairness in tax assessments was charged. Corporations and unincorporated businesses were billed at far too different rates and residents on the town outskirts were taxed for value not received. James K. Cooper said these residents lack town services such as sewer facilities, yet they cannot be charged sewer rents. The board president George W. Beck Sr. noted no immediate action was taken and the matter was under advisement.
