Hunting on River Marshes Railbirds Draw Maryland Sportsmen

In the Choptank marshes along both riverbanks near Dover Bridge, railbirds provide premier shooting as the rail season opens. Birds flush and fly erratically from reeds and oats, with seasoned gunners enjoying challenging shots from boats. The article notes rail behavior, feeding, and fattening after marsh stays, plus reedbirds and other species. Local laws apply across marsh areas, shotgun choices favor small gauges and light charges, and attire remains minimal with rain gear.
