Schneider Tops Georgetown Stock Car Race in Derby

Fireball Frankie Schneider from Lambertville N J won the Georgetown Speedway feature after a 19 car start. Elwood Tucker led early before Schneider and Johnny Roberts battled for the lead. A midrace collision halted action. Schneider held on to finish ahead of Roberts, Paul Walker and Johnny Martin. The program closed with four events and a note on upcoming Delmar Raceway action.

Clayton Defeats Townsend For Bay League Title

Clayton, the third Kent County nine to win the League Championship, defeated Townsend 5 to 1 in the Bay League Final Playoffs deciding game. Pitcher Bob Knight earned the win with a five hit outing and nine strikeouts. Key blows came from Cliff Chambers and John Fortner, whose hits drove in and extended Clayton’s lead. Townsend had taken an early 1–0 lead before Clayton answered in the bottom of the second and pulled away with three runs in the sixth. Barney Reynolds and Willey added two hits for Townsend, while Clayton’s late-season rally pushed them from a fourth-place finish to the title.
