The Schick Test shows if a child has immune bodies against diphtheria. A red spot at injection means no protection and a toxoid dose is needed, with a recheck about three months later. If no red spot, protection exists and toxoid is unnecessary. The health department urges parents to immunize infants at six months. Next week details on the Tuberculin Test.
The Keystone Automobile Club launched its most comprehensive highway safety program, coordinating six departments to improve conditions. President J Barton Weeks toured Eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey, addressing over 10 000 motorists at nine meetings and urging safer driving practices.
County agent Geo W Glendaniel urges Caroline county farmers to plan how to seed wheat and other small grains this fall to fit the 1938 agricultural conservation program. The program sets national soil-depleting goals, divided to state, county, and farm levels, with no separate wheat goal but inclusion in the overall target. Farmers may adjust by seeding wheat for harvest in line with 1938 goals or shift acreage to other crops. pasture and rye rotations are also discussed as alternatives.

Denton High School routed Ridgely 17 to 0 on the home field. Denton opened with three quick goals and maintained the lead as the Ridgely boys offered little threat. The win boosts Denton in county standings as they prepare to meet Greensboro this Friday at Greensboro.
Denton hosts a Halloween event organized by Caroline Post No 29 of The American Legion on Monday November 1 with a parade on main streets and an amateur show before the Court House Square. Children in costume gain free admission to the Dentonia Theatre and prizes donated by merchants and the Legion await winners including best Jane Withers impersonator. A 60 cent dance fee funds expenses with an orchestra, after-show at Bullock and White’s on 6th and Gay Streets.
Under the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce Mercantile Section the official Fall Wilmington Day will be held on Wednesday October 20 in Wilmington. Stores across the peninsula and adjacent counties will participate offering merchandise at real bargains with an emphasis on Christmas shopping. The event, led by the Cooperative Sales Committee headed by Edward A. Munch, promises widespread participation across all lines of retail goods from clothing to household necessities. Police authorize the use of the Police Courtesy Card to help visitors park without worry.
