Partridge and rabbit shooting opens in Caroline November 15
Sporting Notes states that in quail hunting the cock bird commonly flushes first and is more often killed than the hen. An examined bag often confirms this, and the piece recounts a farm where an unmolested covey fails to increase, while thinning birds seems to improve results. It notes that total gun pressure and quiet farming affect quail numbers.
