Caroline Council No 175 restarts its regular gatherings and launches a drive to recruit new members, inviting community participation and outlining membership opportunities.
Notice is given that Willard L. Wright has obtained from the Orphans Court of Caroline County Maryland letters of administration on the estate of Virginia R. Wright late of Caroline County deceased. All claimants must present their claims with vouchers authenticated on or before April 1 1935 or be barred from benefits. Debtors must settle promptly. Administrator Willard L. Wright signed September 23 1933.
Auditor's Order nisi dated October 6 1933 ratifies the auditor's report in the proceedings and confirms it unless good cause is shown within three weeks from October 14 1933. A copy of the order must be published in a Caroline County newspaper once in each of two successive weeks before October 23 1933.
Caroline county farmers join the National Wheat Administration plan to reduce wheat acreage and receive compensatory payments. 495 farmers covering 15,800 of 19,000 acres signed up, totaling about 250,000 bushels against a county average of 339,000. Contracts start October 16 at 2 p.m in district offices, with signings scheduled across Henderson, Greensboro, Denton, Preston, Federalsburg, Ridgely, and American Corner. If all signed, over 10,000 dollars will be distributed by the Caroline County Wheat Production Control Association from a 59,000 allotment.
John R. Ricards, manager of the National Reemployment Bureau of Caroline County, announces registration sittings for the unemployed. Events: Federalsburg Covey and Williams Store on Oct 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.. Preston Covey's Store American Corner on Oct 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.. Hillsboro Lord's Store Thompson's Hardware on Oct 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Fourteen major league stars from the American League visit Federalsburg on Tuesday October 17 for a high school grounds exhibition game. Names include Hayes Walberg Krause Carroll Pennock and Bak er among others with umpires McGowan and Dietrick. Admission 50 cents.
The Caroline County Dog Show Association announces a bigger and better show planned for Friday evening October 27. Judges are Joseph H. Baldwin of Wilmington handling Beagles and Foxhounds and Marie Louise Welch of Baltimore handling Setters Pointers and all other breeds. Awaited feature attractions could not yet be announced.
The Todd family expresses appreciation for the choir singing the flowers and all who assisted during their sad bereavement Mr and Mrs John T Todd and Family.
A large grist mill at Harmony owned by C Clarence Deen was destroyed by fire last Wednesday afternoon after a tractor backfire caused an explosion. Firefighters from Denton Preston and Federalsburg saved nearby homes but the mill, built 75 years ago by W H Deen, suffered about 10000 in losses as embers damaged the roof of nearby residences. Deen was in Baltimore when notified by telephone.
Federalsburg hosts its first annual Community Fair with about a thousand objects on display from local industries to coins and Indian darts. Highlights include Mayor Chambers’ 1824 gloves and Lafayettes image on cuffs with a 200 year old English watch, plus Woodrow Wilson’s 1927 short wave radio built from junked parts. The needlework and quilts filled the women’s colubroom as a homecoming service concluded the event.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt accepted invitation to attend the inauguration of Gilbert Wilcox Mead, 19th head of Washington College at Chestertown, Md. He will travel from Annapolis on the yacht Sequoia and receive an honorary Doctor of Laws. Maryland officials and many state and federal leaders expected to attend.
Memorial services were held in West Denton for the 131st anniversary of the Tuckahoe Neck Meeting House of the Society of Friends. Wilson M. Tyler of Easton led an historical sketch and a congregational poem set to Faith of Our Fathers. Rev. T. J. Turkington offered prayer and a solo, with brief remarks by Rev. H. E. Uhrig. The event closed with God be with you till we meet again and a social hour afterward.
