The Western Area of the Del-Mar-Va Council Boy Scouts of America held an Area Finance meeting at Easton Fire Hall on October 3 with representatives from Kent Queen Annes Caroline Talbot and Dorchester counties. The Finance Campaign will run October 14 to 31 marking the first fall drive. Attendees included district and county chairs and town chairmen, with district executives and the council scout executive. The Fall 4-H and F F A Hog Show and Sale took place with 84 entries from 16 4-H clubs. Grand champion harrow sold to Esskax Packing Co for 4k per pound. reserve champion barrow bought by Armour Packing Co for 35¢ per lb. Judge M H Kerr of University of Maryland, aided by Boyd H Whittle, led the event in Talbot Counts.

Preaching Mission At Federalsburg Seeks Broad Outreach
The Methodist Evangelistic Advance plans a Federalsburg preaching mission during October 15 to 22 across the Delmarva Peninsula. Bishop Francis J. McConnell will conduct services at Union Church Federalsburg with Rev. R. T. Thawles announcing guest minister assignments. McConnell, born 1871 in Trinway Ohio, has led multiple Methodist areas and served as professor and author, returning to active episcopacy as Resident Bishop of Portland after retirement.

National and state PTA officers visited the venerable Wye Oak at Wsells last week. The Denton regional conference prompted a proposal to sell acorns at the National Congress of Parents and Teachers in Miami next May to support the Chicago building fund. Maryland leaders endorsed the plan, noting the oak emblem of the national organization and the slogan Big oaks from little acorns grow.

Judge Wm H Adkins Dies at 88 in Traston
Judge Willam H Adkins age 88 died at his home in Traston on Wednesday. He served as Associate Judge of the Second Judicial Circuit from 1906 and 1907, became Chief Judge in 1919, retired about 1934. Funeral services set for Friday at 11 a m at Christ Episcopal Church Easton.

Man Given Two Years In Crash Fatal To Couple
Federalsburg man Divid Mitchell, 45, was sentenced by Judge J DeWeese Carter in Caro line County Circuit Court to two years in Marsland House of Correction after a jury found him guilty of manslaughter in a crash that killed Mrs Ruth Bradley and George Adams and seriously injured a child, Georgy Soo, on May 21. The judge condemned drunken driving and noted the odor of alcohol on Mitchells breath. Mitchell, who is married with three children, initially pleaded guilty but the judge entered a not guilty plea for cross negligence. Mitchell said I hope someone will take care of my children.
