State's Attorney Disposes Of Several Cases In Courts
On Oct 4 in Circuit Court for Caroline County Rodney Gould of near Elkton had his Post Conviction Procedure Act relief denied for a 21 year rape sentence. Judge Carter upheld the confession and the prior Maryland Court of Appeals ruling. Also on Oct 4 Barr of Louisiana waived extradition for criminal neglect of family. on Oct 7 Lenora William of Federalsburg received suspended terms for concealed deadly weapon and disorderly conduct. Brooks Simms of Simmstown got 10 days suspended for disorderly conduct. On Oct 8 John Storey of Goldsboro paid 10 dollars for reckless driving and Charles Foraker of Felton paid 10 dollars for failing to keep right after a collision near the Delaware line.

The Caroline County Association for the Mentally Retarded met at Denton School at 8 o clock on September 30. President William Quillen chaired with 17 members present. Kent County speaker Madaline Fennel urged more classes for special children and praised Caroline County provisions. Current county classes include 6 educable and 2 trainable. The group outlined goals and a by laws draft to inform the public and support independent living. Proposed activities included day camp scouting and swimming with aims toward a shared education for the group. A training center transport option and part time work study with vocational guidance were discussed as possibilities. The association invites community involvement and next meets November 18 at Denton School.

The Woman's Club of Denton opened the new year with a covered dish luncheon on Friday October 4 attendance reached 36 including three Eastern Shore District officers Mrs H F Williamson president Mrs G P Emerson recording secretary and Mrs W O Thomas corresponding secretary Decor exhibits of antiques and crafts were arranged by Mrs David H Hollis Fine Arts Division chair The president Mr L Jay Smith opened the meeting and welcomed guests who were greeted by Mrs Williamson The program followed with a district recap by Mrs Smith The club plans to finish paying a long outstanding loan for clubhouse redecorations The County Clothing Center report noted nine needy families aided with clothes and household supplies A flower arranging workshop is set for October 12 at 10 am at the clubhouse chaired by Mrs Jesse R Cook and Mrs L Jay Smith The program closed with three songs performed by Miss Susan Manlove a Peabody student

Review of Maryland Traffic Fatalities
