The comptroller apportioned the white and colored public school taxes for Maryland counties and Baltimore City, payable after Oct 10. Totals show Allegany to Washington counties, Prince Georges, Queen Annes, and others, with Garrett included in Allegany. Child Found Drowned in Slop Barrel Near Embert Farm

A two year old boy of Mr Soloman Narris from Embert's farm three miles from town was found dead Friday in a slop barrel at the farm. The barrel once half buried stood on a cask holding about sixty gallons. The child disappeared during the day prompting a search. It was recovered head downward in the slop, drowning occurred.

Swarthmore College Students to Receive Books by Dates

Swarthmore College students from each class are to assemble at the Chestnut Grove House in Media near the railroad station to collect books and resume studies. Seniors and juniors on the 6th at 6 o clock, sophomores and freshmen on the 7th, college preparatory on the 10th, class A on the 11th, and classes 3 and C on the 12th.

Sheep thefts alarm Church Hill farmers in Queen Anne’s

In the Church Hill district of Queen Anne’s county several farmers report multiple sheep stolen over a two week period. Capt. C. F. Iollingaworth loses six, Samuel Brown six, and Franti Bishop five. Market Reports on Southern Wheat and Western Corn

Markets show light Southern wheat offering with a firm tone. Fancy No. 1 samples sold around 145 to 163, including lone berry at 155 to 163. Maryland red offered 100 to 160. White Southern corn weak with small lots at 0 slots and no yellow reported. Western market quiet and steady, most trading in November deliveries at 76 to 77 cents. Outs and rye prices listed around 1.13 to 1.14.
