Devil Almighty and the Candleless Bluff Tale
A 19th century Ayr legend features a blasphemous man nicknamed the Devil Almighty famed for swearing with eyes shut. A tavern prank in darkness leads him to fear blindness, prompting repentance and abandonment of the habit. The tale appears alongside brief items on nursing contrasts, tall versus low garden plants, an electroplating method for the dead, and Colton on money and happiness.
