Spilled Milk and Injuries Mark Local Crashes

A truck driven by James Junior Robinson overturned on Holly Road near Denton while he reached for a cigarette, spilling 100 cans of milk and leaving him unhurt but cited for failure to stay in a lane. Other crashes this week involved Doris Buckle, Harry Wise Jr., William Harris, and Robert Vernon Harris, with minor to serious injuries and various charges.

Elkins paper backs Talbot County site for Maryland U branch

Eastern Shore branch plan by Caroline and Queen Anne counties failed after University of Maryland Division of Institutional Research recommended a Talbot County location just south of Easton. Greensboro Police Nab Fugitives

Two escapees from the Kent County Correctional Institution were captured by Greensboro police near Burrsville. Harry Griffin and Robert Bodine, both 24, were returned to Delaware after a 16 state alert. Griffin faces three burglary counts. Bodine is charged with molesting a minor.

Health Association Opens Membership Drive

The Caroline County Health Association announces its annual drive inviting family groups service clubs and social organizations to enroll. The annual meeting is set for Thursday October 22 at the Denton Health Center. A part time registered physical therapist funded by the State Health Department has served homes across ages 18 months to 80 years. The association also plans a Tag Day fund drive on Election Day November 3 encouraging support as people vote.

Art Workshop Set for Caroline County Teachers

Fifty teachers from Caroline County Schools will attend a three day art workshop on October 7 8 and 9 1964 at North Caroline High School in Denton announced by Superintendent Wilbur Hoppengardner. The event aims to teach modern creative art education and use of materials and tools with the theme learn by doing. Sessions run 3 to 6 pm and 7 to 9 pm daily.

USA Bound John W Asher to visit United States this fall

USA Bound John W Asher, U S A I D director in Eastern Nigeria for two years and former assistant manager of Choptank Electric Cooperative, will return to the United States this fall. A letter says he and Mrs. Asher will leave Enugu on October 11 and, after a Middle East and Mediterranean tour, arrive in New York on November 3. They will spend time at their Denton home except for brief official consultations and two one week training courses plus visits with relatives.

Commissioners Cautious On Maryland Home Rule

Caroline County Commissioners gave cautious remarks on a Maryland County Commissioners Association resolution backing code home rule. They called for further study before advocacy. The rule would expand county powers and limit state legislative action. Caroline remains exempt from home rule. John Eveland, president of the state association, hails from Caroline.

Dale Palmer Leads Local Johnson Fight Announcement

Leonard Frenkil state chairman of Young Citizens for Johnson announces the formation of a local chapter in Caroline County with Dale Palmer of Denton named director. Jim Lewis serves as executive secretary, with Frank D. Zeigler Jr. as executive director and Mrs. James Voss as press secretary. A district coordinator will be named in each district next week.

Over 70 Leaders Take Part in Caroline County 4-H Program

Caroline County 4-H Clubs count 77 volunteer Local Leaders with adult volunteers guiding club meetings. The program, supported by land grant university and extension service, offers leadership growth and community recognition for willing adults.
