Scriptural Types Jacob and Esau in Bible History
A concluding article by Mr Generly explores the Jacob and Esau story as a quiet family drama showing duplicity, parental guidance, and the growth of peaceable traits. It contrasts Esau’s military vigor with Jacob’s industrious, patient approach and notes the eventual reconciliation and the belief that the Lord chose Jacob over Esau.

Pioneer Maryland Pear Grower Captures Fine Exhibit
Captain Robert S. Emory of Chestertown, a veteran Kent County fruit grower and president of the Maryland State Horticultural Society, shipped 30 000 baskets of pears from his home and farms. His Lawrence pears impressed 1871 judges, earning a silver medal as Downing praised their size and beauty.
