Whistler Decorator's Ruin at Prince's Gate Mansion
The aged tale of James McNeill Whistler's London interior makeover for Frederick Leyland ends in tragedy as Whistler remodels the dining room with gold paint and peacocks, fracturing a patronage bond and culminating in Jeckyll's madness and Leyland's disappointment. Charles L. Freer later preserves the Peacock Room in Washington's National Museum of American Art.
