Pulling Power of Men and Animals

A historical note reports on pulling power tests for horses elephants and men. Two horses at 1 600 pounds each pulled 3 750 pounds equal to 550 pounds over their combined weight. An elephant at 0 000 pounds pulled 2 50 pounds, while fifty men totaling 7 500 pounds pulled 3 750 pounds, same as the single elephant, and all three groups pulled beyond their own weight.
