Remarkable Woman Margaret Eaton Dies in Washington
Mrs. Margaret Eaton, widow of Gen John H Eaton and once a leading social figure of Andrew Jacksons era, died in Washington on Saturday 7th Inst. at age eighty one. Born in Bindensburg she first married Navy officer Timberlake, then Eaton, and later wed an Italian dancing master Buchignani who eloped with her granddaughter. Renowned as the White House hostess during Jacksons administration she influenced Cabinets and social life, and she is buried at Oak Hill Cemetery where a novelist once made her the Queen of the May.
