Youth to play major role at World's Poultry Congress
Youth from Maryland and other nations will participate in the Seventh World's Poultry Congress in Cleveland Ohio from July 28 to August 7 1939. A Hall of Youth will showcase 4 H clubs Future Farmers of America Boy Scouts and College Poultry Science Clubs with 3000 square feet for displays and programs. Judging demonstrations and a youth camp will accompany entertainment by Scouts and FFA members, with certificates signed by Congress and World Poultry Science Association officials.

Rotary program chair Paul Croll welcomed Dr. Holliday director of Maryland Crippled Children's Service. Maryland League for Crippled Children began in Allegany county in 1927. By 1936 thirty four clinics aided many children with free hospital wards and state matched funds for transport, braces, and staff. Eight physiotherapists train muscles, three orthopedic nurses assist homes, and local surgeons donate time. Infantile paralysis requires long term care. some cases improve over eight years. In Baltimore, Hospital for Crippled Children costs $2 daily with home continued care after discharge. There are 1680 crippled children in the counties, balanced by sex. one third have after effects. Moving pictures after the lecture showed specialized schools and camps.
