Santa’s Dentton holiday show promises free gift for all
Treasury sponsored school savings plan aside this week invites Caroline County children to a Dentonia Theatre Christmas program. Santa arrives Saturday November 26 during a Free Cartoon Comedy Show at 2 pm. Featured characters include Donald Duck Mickey Mouse Popeye Porky Pig Tom and Jerry and The Three Stooges. Santa will deliver a personal message and gifts for every child.

Murphy Killed in Farm Field Accident in Denton
On Tuesday morning November 15 Harry J. Murphy 65 of Denton died when a loaded 16 gauge shotgun under his arm on a farm tractor discharged fatally wounding him in the upper right chest. Deputy Medical Examiner Dr D O George pronounced him dead and the body was taken to Moore Funeral Home. A Social Security representative will be at the Denton Fire House on Monday November 21 from 10 am.

Caroline County Officials Cite Savings Stamp Success

New Trial Denied and Guilty Verdict Upheld
Motion for a new trial was denied for Preston Thomas Holmes of Queenstown, keeping the Oct 11 guilty verdict for illegal sale of alcoholic beverages. Sentencing was deferred for pre sentence investigation. Cornelius Fountain was found not guilty of selling beverages, with his second case dismissed. Other Circuit Court actions included DUI appeals denied and a 60 day jail sentence for Thornlee Tilghman, plus a mental examination order for William Dust and a forgery probation without verdict for another defendant. Charles Knight, arrested by the Maryland Alcohol Tax Unit for beverage manufacturing equipment, is free on a $750 bond.

State Trooper Activity In The Past Week
The Maryland State Police report incidents from Nov 8 to Nov 13 including a fatal collision on State Route 312 near Ridgely when a 1958 Pontiac struck by a train killed Lucille Foulks Turner and seriously injured Robert Franklin Turner. Nov 10 saw a two-vehicle crash on Mt Zion road with two drivers charged but no injuries. Nov 12 records a single vehicle overturn on State Route 16 with one rider charged for reckless driving and total loss. Also on Nov 11 two brothers were jailed in Caroline County for breaking and entering and larceny from multiple Federalsburg and Denton businesses. property stolen was recovered. James Henry Miller and Daniel Thomas Staten faced separate charges and consequences.

Wheatley Couple Celebrate 50 Years in Denton
Mr and Mrs J Claude Wheatley of Denton marked their fiftieth wedding anniversary with an Open House at the Brick Hotel on Sunday November 13. More than two hundred friends attended as family members hosted the event with yellow mums candles and a four tier yellow white cake. The couple married November 16 1910 in Seaford and later lived in Federalsburg and Andersontown before moving to Denton.
