P. T. A. Plans Supper and Play for December

The P T A schedules a supper on November 20 at the Community House from 5 30 to 7 00 pm with tickets 50c and invites all. The senior play Adam and Eva will be presented December 13 in the High School Auditorium with reserved seats selling two weeks prior. Large turnout noted at the latest P T A meeting with Prof. Holloway speaking and first year music providing special numbers.

Don'ts for Fire Safety At Home From Everyday Hazards

A practical list warns against accumulating rubbish, burning near buildings, placing ashes in wooden boxes, or altering wiring without an electrician. It stresses metal cans for ashes, stove protections, flue maintenance, screens for fireplaces, safe handling of fuels, and avoiding open flames with lighted items. It also advises safer matches, restricted fireworks, child fire safety, and proper storage of oily rags outside the home.

Nurses Enrolled With Red Cross for Service

Enrolled with the Nursing Service the American Red Cross in Washington are 49,000 nurses qualified under society regulations who may be summoned in disasters or emergencies. From the Red Cross enrollment were assigned 20,000 nurses in World War I. These Red Cross nurses serve as the standing reserve of the Army and Navy Nurse Corps and are also called upon for other governmental health services.

Maryland warns on girls collecting for Chicago charity

William B. Matthews of the Maryland Tuberculosis Association issues a statement disassociating Maryland women selling pamphlets in the state from the Maryland Tuberculosis Association. He notes inquiries about affiliation with the National Society and cites Better Business Bureau reports on unverified solicitations and a Chicago charity magazine used to solicit funds.

Denton De Molay Holds Interesting Armistice Day Program

Denton Chapter Order of De Molay held a special Monday program on November 11 with piano solos a vocal piece and harmonica numbers arranged by Paul Shockley James Wright and Burdette Nuttle. Rev Lee H Richcreek gave an Armistice Day address. Next meeting November 25 plans include initiation of several candidates.

Martinelli to Sing on Atwater Kent Radio Hour

Premier tenor Giovanni Martinelli of the Metropolitan Opera will be guest artist on the Atwater Kent Radio Hour Sunday evening November 17. He lauds American opportunity for artists and describes the nation as tolerant and generous to young performers. The program features operatic arias and two ballad groups with the Atwater Kent Concert Orchestra under Josef Pasternack, mostly NY Philharmonic players, with four special arrangements.

Churchmen Urge Red Cross Roll Call Support

Leading churchmen across the nation call public support for the annual Red Cross Roll Call. Archbishop Michael J. Curley of Baltimore urges extending membership to every adult American and enrolling children by parental action. Francis J. McConnell, president of the Federal Council of Churches, also urges ministers to inform congregations and enroll members.
