Repossession notes reveal little in forgotten boxes
Regular examination of forgotten safe deposit boxes shows only modest value items found, including old half dollars, lottery tickets, a cheap watch, and a ball slipper marked Helen. Many boxes yielded insurance policies with minimal premiums. vast sums remain unpaid, while portraits of human stories emerge from letters and keepsakes, including a pocketbook with coal bills and a Rock Island timetable.

Habit of Refusing to Eat Is Common Among Lunatics
A physician reports that persistent food refusal among the insane is common and often requires forcible feeding. Of 200 recent private-patient admissions, 27 required feeding for resistance, including 12 men and 15 women. Recovery with nutrition improvement followed, with occasional complications. Feeding used a funnel and esophageal tube, with alternatives if irritation occurred, and sometimes the mere sight of the tube helped cure the habit in hysterical cases.

The Polypody Fern and a Railroad Tale
A fragment discusses a railroad accident with recovery questions of White-Has Green and a referenced Black-No, but his wife has to the tune of $10,000. It then describes the common polypody fern as sociable, faithful, and evergreen, thriving on rocks and mossy beds, spreading via long root stocks and clinging to mossy roots and tree trunks like a fond child.
