Little League Day Draws Big Crowds in Denton
The Denton Little League Day on Saturday May 19 featured 53 parade entrants and a full program at Lions Memorial Park. Participants included Mary Ann Fleetwood Susie Cooper Fire Dept Auxiliary Home Run Baker Mayor Crouse and many local groups. The Lions Club donated the park and outlined future improvements such as tennis courts picnic areas parking and a possible swimming pool.

Caroline Bird Club reports May Bird Census results
Caroline County Bird Club and seven other Maryland clubs met at Ocean City May 11 to 13 for the state society annual meeting. The May Census on May 5 counted 108 species, second highest in several years, with unusual birds including Wood cock Black-billed Cuckoo Hermit Thrush Pipit Migrant Shrike Nashville Warbler and Fox Sparrow. At Caroline High School onThursday evening three contestants Diane Carroll Beverly Smith and Mary Jo Phillips vied for Miss Denton. Mary Jo Phillips was crowned by Byron Nuttle on behalf of the Denton Chamber of Commerce. She will win a Chamber prize and a bathing suit to compete for Miss Del marva in Ocean City June plus a three day all expenses paid stay during the Festival. Master of ceremonies was O O Stivers with Emory Dobson assisting and support from Mr and Mrs Stivers.
