Pasture plan for hogs using clover rye and rape
In good hog pastures clover rye and rape are ideal and often sufficient. Winter rye appears first and is eagerly eaten, followed by medium clover, then early sown rape after clover regrowth. A second clover flush comes later and the slate crop of rape carries hogs toward winter. If clover fails rye remains primary, with peas and sweet corn as alternatives. The system suits prairie country and allows variety without overplanting.
