Essex Institute Moves Into New Home and Expands

The Essex Institute has relocated to a large brick mansion once owned by Tucker Dalind and later by Benjamin Cox and his heirs, aided by a $25,000 endowment from friends and a land purchase funded by William Burley Howes. The new site connects to Plum mer Hall, boosting membership, visitor entries, and broad recognition. The library and museum boast extensive archives, yearly meeting rooms, and a rich collection of manuscripts, newspapers, rare books, art, naval artifacts, and a noted cherry stone with 113 tiny silver spoons.
