The Board of Education reappoints Wilbur S Hoopengardner as superintendent of schools for Caroline County for a second four year term starting August 1 1960. By July 30 1960 he will complete his first term during which a new consolidated senior high school was built the Federalsburg high school replaced a new elementary at Lockerman additions were made at Ridgely Federalsburg and Jonestown schools and renovations occurred at Greensboro Lockerman Preston Greensboro and Ridgely. Planning for the South Caroline High School is nearly complete and will go to bid late May.

Fletcher Jr Named to Caroline County School Board
Theodore E. Fletcher Jr was named to a five year appointment on the Caroline County Board of Education replacing C Brooks Nagel. A Carolina native, he graduated Preston High School in 1936, attended Staunton Military Academy and the University of Maryland, served as a captain in the U S Air Force, and has been active in Preston civic groups and business pursuits. He will first meet the board on June 7 1960.

Towers Held Guilty In DUI and Reckless Driving
On Thursday May 12 Magistrate Wright found Robert Anthony Towers, 23, of Federalsburg, guilty of driving under the influence and reckless driving. Fines were suspended. An appeal to the Circuit Court was filed by H. Van Sant of Denton. Witnesses included Bill Nichols, tavern owner, and several County Jail prisoners. Last week Clarence Corbett Lloyd of Townsend was held to the Circuit Court on bad checks charges, extradited from Delaware. Charles Slaughter paid fines after convictions for false registration cards, fake tags and speeding.

Mrs. William Wolf reports the Crusade for funds in the 1969 campaign raised $4,253.48 with 252 volunteer chairmen and solicitors across the county plus $215 mailed to the Maryland Division. The Caroline County 4-H Poultry Judging Team finished seventh in the State 4-H Poultry Judging Contest at College Park on May 14. Forty-one contestants from eleven counties competed in four production classes one culling class one live market class and one breed identification class. Team members were Beverly Trice Sharon Todd Joseph L Voshell Preston and John Wade with Wade as alternate. contest directed by Loren Goyen and Grover Harris Jr from the University of Maryland.

Daniel Hollingsworth Dies In Farm Accident
Daniel Donovan Hollingsworth Sr. 71 died Thursday when his clothing snagged on farm machinery at Log Cabin Crossroads. He was born near Centerville, son of William and Jennie Hollingsworth, survived by wife Esther Covington, three children, six grandchildren, two brothers, two half brothers, with services at Ridgely Methodist Church and interment at Chesterfield Cemetery in Centreville.

Auto Crash At Fifth And Gay Streets Last Week
On Thursday May 12 at 4 50 p m Reginald Foxwell and his two sons aged 8 and 9 were southbound on Fifth Street in a 1953 Plymouth when they pulled onto Gay Street and collided with a 1955 Chevrolet driven by Bernard Smith of St Michaels. Both cars were total losses. Foxwell and the boys sustained minor injuries while Smith suffered multiple fractures and ribs. Smith was admitted to Memorial Hospital Easton. Foxwell was charged with failing to grant right of way at the intersection.
