The second annual after the season sale of Migratory Waterfowl Stamps by the Bureau of Sport Fisheries of the Fish and Wildlife Service is under way. Secretary Udall launched the sale in Washington during National Wildlife Week. A fifth grade class from Bunker Hill Elementary bought the first stamp as a conservation project. Proceeds fund wetlands for waterfowl habitat, totaling 1214 million acres with state acquisitions. Each stamp costs 3 dollars, with a special certificate and framed remarks for purchasers. Checks go to the Bureau in Washington 25, D. C.
State wide Sewing Contest of Maryland Grangers will be held at Mt. Pleasant Elementary School on Saturday May 27 starting at 10 am. Winners from local contests compete in the state wide event with judges from the Eastern and Western Shore. National level competition awaits state winners. Mrs Chauncey Downs of Denton chairs the Home Economics Committee invites Grangers and non Grangers to Idlewild to attend.
Mrs. Chase C. Gove Jr records two weeks of outgoing calls to measure phone value. Her family saved over 33 hours and $61.20 in car expenses, with 771 miles of travel avoided through calls. She volunteers with PTA, Frederick Community Chest, and is president of the hospital auxiliary. The phone gives more time for family and neighbors.
