In a long two inning tilt the Preston nine edged Denton 7 to 6 as darkness fell in the twelfth. Denton led early before Preston tied it, then won with a single a sacrifice and another single in the twelfth. Bob Middleton starred for Denton while Perry pitched well for Preston.
Victor Lee Emerson a prominent inventor with patents covering about 100 basic inventions and devices such as the bevel gear drive and Emerson Pump, has emerged from 20 years in seclusion to win a $165,216 back royalties suit against Universal Products. He lives at 6381 Overbrook Ave in Philadelphia and cherishes his private lab and a vast rifle collection. Emerson plans further legal action to recover royalties, saying the goal is business honesty rather than money.

The Greensboro Community Club schedules a Better Homes Exhibit at the Fire House from May 22 to 26. Mrs. T. Clayton Horsey chairs the committee with Mrs. Temple Smith and Mrs. B. C. Beckham assisting. Miss Mildred Ginn is treasurer and heads booths and posters. firms Ice Service Company Clayton Eastern Shore Public Service Co Nuttle Lumber & Coal Co J. H. Nichols & Co Quality Ice Cream Co have booths already. A Flower Show on the lower floor will be chaired by Mrs. A. A. Christian with Miss Bessie Spafford County Home Demonstration Agent assisting. Prizes for cut flowers and arrangements open to amateur county growers. entries to be listed later. Open May 22 at 7 pm with program at 8 pm, daily afternoons 2:30 to 4:30 except Monday. Small admission, door prizes. Mrs. W. P. Manlove chairs prize solicitation. Afternoon teas chaired by Mrs. A. W. Brumbaugh and cake and candy by Mrs. Ralph Pritchett. Each evening features a home furnishings topic.
