Frost hits Peninsula strawberry crop but outlook stays bright
Heavy frost Sunday night damaged early varieties like Superior and Tennessee in parts of Caroline County but most growers saw only slight losses. W. W. Seward of Ridgely reported about 15 percent buds killed in his area, with enough live buds to yield a good crop. A. G. Saulsbury of Ridgely said early berries suffered under ten percent harm, late varieties were unscathed, and overall prospects remained favorable despite some isolated cases of greater damage.
