Methodist Conference To Meet In Wilmington

Peninsula Annual Conference of the Methodist Church to be held May 12 to 15 at Grace Church Wilmington with Bishop G Bromley Oxnam presiding. Notable guests include Rev Dr Charles W Ransom Rev Dr William A Keese US Senator John J Williams and Dorothy N Dolbey. Events begin with Holy Communion at 9 am Thursday and include sessions, reports, ballots, films, and a lecture by Ransom.

Rotary Activities Noted in The Seventh Quadrennium Rotary Activities

The Seventh Quadrennium chapter records Denton Rotary Club history under presidents Fleetwood Stafford Downes and Bilmeier beginning 1951. Membership reached 63 as the club built a vocational advisory board with Caroline High School, aided fire services with ambulance equipment, and expanded international service following a visit from Denton England. The club supported Denton Free Library and the Rotary Fellowship Foundation hosting 606 Fellows from 57 countries studying in 35 nations.

Judge Kessinger to Speak at Rotary Ladies' Night

Judge Harold C. Kessinger, humorist and orator, will be guest speaker at the annual Denton Rotary Ladies' Night on Tuesday May 10 at 6:30 p m at the Easton Elks Club. He rose from book salesman to editor publisher educator and bank president and is famed for his cross country lecture tours and distinctive delivery. The arrangements committee includes Ied Covell Ormond L Andrew and George W Beck Jr.

Shore Feed And Grain Dealers Meet in Easton

The Eastern Shore Feed and Grain Dealers Association held a dinner in Easton at the Tidewater Inn on April 28. Austin W. Carpenter urged private enterprise and engagement with Congress while noting government retreat. Edward H. Cowell Jr. reported on grain sampling and grading training with Maryland and federal agencies and praised Steinlite moisture testers. He urged nonmembers to follow the association’s example to build producer buyer confidence.

County Principals Attend State Meeting

High school principals from Pres ton Federalsburg Lockerman Denton and Greensboro attended a two day meeting at the Lord Baltimore Hotel with principals supervisors and superintendents from Maryland counties and Baltimore City. The conference featured speakers from state and national education groups focusing on how high schools prepare students for college and technical demands.

The Fourth District Maryland VFW met at Post 5118 Easton with District Commander Earl Mielke presiding. New officers include Aldred A. The Caroline County Board of Education met with 22 PTA selected reps to discuss informing voters about the June 14 School Board plan. They addressed taxes, transportation, and the case for a central high school to provide equal education at lower cost, with emphasis on consolidation for Federalsburg.

Architects Selected For County School Buildings Plan

The Caroline County Board of Education and County Commissioners chose Johannes and Murray Architects to draft plans and costs for a 25 to 30 room senior high school and an 18 room Federalsburg addition. Plans due by June 1 with no charge if voters reject the bond.

Youth Layman's Day Held at St Pauls Church May 14

Youth Layman's Day will be held Saturday May 14 at St Pauls Methodist Church at 10th and Jackson Streets Wilmington. Events include registration 9 a.m. service 9:30 a.m. business session 9:45 a.m. conference 41 o'clock. Lunch 12:30 p.m. Worship and Holy Communion 2:30 p.m. Officers installed by Bishop Oxnam. Girl Scout Mother and Daughter Banquet Planned

Final plans for the Girl Scout Mother and Daughter Banquet set for May 12 at 6 p m in the Denton fire house. The Ladies Auxiliary will serve dinner for about 200 tickets distributed among five active troops and committees. Guests include former Senior Troop 13 girls and mothers hoping to reactivate. Ten girls will graduate into Senior Scouting at the event. Tickets were made by Troops 15 and 82 led by Mrs. Walter Kerslake and Mrs. Joseph Scurto with Kerslake in charge of the program. Miss Iliane C. Schadt will speak and a movie Camping for all Girl Scouts will be shown.

Horizontal Silo Demonstration On Eveland Farm

A horizontal silo demonstration will be held at Mr. William Eveland's farm near Ridgely on May 10 starting at 9 30 a m Eastern Daylight Saving Time. If weather is bad it moves to the first clear day of that week. Alban Tractor Company Baltimore provides caterpillar earth moving equipment for a 100 ton earth bank silo on a typical Eastern Shore site. Walter D Hunnicutt of National Dairy Products Corp will speak on Making Better Grass Silage at Lower Cost. County Agent F M Rogers and Extension Dairyman John P Dietrich present information for local dairy farmers. Breyer Ice Cream Company serves lunch. Eastern Shore dairymen interested in low cost silos invited.

Layman's Work Day At Camp Pecometh May 7

Camp Pe-Co-Meth near Centreville hosts a Laymen's Work Day on May 7 as preparations begin for the ninth camping season opening in June. The Peninsula Conference Methodist Church group asks men to bring hammers and paint brushes. lunch is served at noon in the dining hall.
