The Ridgely Theatre and Eastern Shore Theatres circuit plan benefit performances next week in Surlock and Salisbury to aid flood victims. On Monday and Tuesday the film Chatterbox starring Ann Shirley will be shown, with all proceeds donated to the flood relief effort. The management urges public attendance to support those in destitute need.
President Roosevelt will visit Baltimore on April 13 to deliver the first address in his re election campaign. The Fifth Regiment Armory will host over 25 000 attendees with a nationwide broadcast planned. A large reception is planned with the Young Democratic Clubs of Maryland and America organizing the event. The rally committee includes Dr Howell A King and Lawrence B Fenneman with regional directors named for Western Maryland Southern Maryland and Eastern Shore. The program features a 1030 pm address a 15 200 seat layout and a grand ball with a 1 ticket price and a 40 piece orchestra. A city parade and floats highlighting Roosevelt administration achievements will accompany the arrival.
Plans for the Flower Mart and School are refined. The event will be held Friday April 3 at 10 00 am for the Flower Mart and 1 30 pm for the School at Denton M P Church rooms. Plant donations are urged with roots protected and labeled. Nurserymen will supply surplus plants at modest prices. The program includes garden planning talks by W R Ballard and Mark Shoemaker and insect control by Dr E N Cory.
Federalsburg hosted an I H Girls banquet with Blessing sung by the group. Dorothea O Connor led as toastmaster. Marjorie Rue, Ruth Voshell led songs with Blanche Walston on piano. Grace Richards welcomed guests as County President. Audrey Jump led the pledge. Several windows and poems were presented by local members, including Ruth Turner and Mrs Frank Zeig ler. A talk titled Golden Windows was given by Dorothy Emerson, followed by a song Dreaming.
Scout leaders and dads across Caroline Talbot and Queen Anne counties will form a five session training troop starting next Monday at Easton High School. Directed by Stanley W. Woodhead the course uses learning by doing with games demonstrations and discussions then an outdoor hike. Trainings rotate among Easton Tilghman St Michaels Denton Federalsburg Greensborough Hillsboro Queen Anne Centreville with delegates from multiple communities.
