Henderson County to host athletic meet and school changes
A Henderson delegation won approval to host the County Athletic meet on May 15. The district will upgrade five acres for first-class grounds. The board will not retain about 20 unsatisfactory teachers as many new Normal graduates enter the county. State law requires first and second grade cert holders preferentially for teaching. Third-grade certificates have largely been eliminated. A county declamation contest will select a representative for the Eastern Shore Declamation Contest at Washington College on May 15. Washington College will host the Eastern Shore Athletic meet on May 16 with likely broad school representation.
