A gathering of Caroline and Talbot County high school principals and athletic directors met at Preston High School to learn best practices for County Athletic Day on May 18 and to clarify eligibility and playing rules. Caroline High members Cumming Baker Towers Hearn Clopper Hoffman attended. Miss Miles and Mr. Ferguson led questions.

Aged Federalsburg Farmer Kills Son-in-law
E. E. Drayton an 86 year old farmer near Federalsburg shot and killed his son in law John Bossman 36 at the Drayton home last Tuesday morning. Bossman who had moved from New York State to stay with Drayton’s daughter was shot after being ordered to leave the house. Bossman died en route to medical aid. Drayton admitted the shooting to Magistrate Robert Nichols and remained at home pending inquest. Witness Louis Drayton, his son, says Bossman bought a garage and filling station nearby. Drayton claims Bossman seized the firearm causing it to discharge. Grand jury action expected.

Nominators were named in most counties and districts for nine delegates per congressional district to a state repeal convention on October 4. Three pro repeal three anti and three unrestricted delegates per district will be chosen, with six at large to join. Names span Allegany to Worcester, with Dorchester Montgomery St Marys not designated.

Ladies Aid meeting at Choptank hosts fair patrons

Eastern Shore Trust Plans Reorganization and Reopening
Plans announced last Monday night for the reopening of Union Trust and Baltimore Trust on a 100 percent basis after 5 percent withdrawals. The Eastern Shore Trust plans a reorganization to form County Trust Company of Maryland with one third of deposits converted to stock at 33.33 per share, with depositors to vote in advance. the plan aims to avoid liquidation and preserve asset values across ten Maryland counties.
