The value of sweet clover as a pasture crop is underappreciated in Maryland. It allows more animals per acre, can be sown in spring with standing wheat or with spring oats, and should use common white blossomed seed at 15-20 pounds per acre. Use certified seed in spring and inoculate if field sowing is first time. One cutting can occur in fall from a spring sown crop, but growth in the following spring starts early and must be cut when blossoms appear to avoid woody hay.
