The Brick Hotel in Denton is sold to L A Moore of Seaford for about 15000. Renovations will convert it into an up to date hostelry with new porches entrances lobby floors and bathrooms. Over 13000 will be spent on remodeling and new furniture as Denton businessmen back the project and boost the tourist appeal.

State Almshouses Bill Seeks Two Central Maryland Infirmaries

Maryland House members filed bills for two state almshouses named the Eastern Shore Infirmary and the Western Maryland Infirmary with a total cost of 1 049 000 dollars. The Eastern unit would house 150 inmates and the Western 500, replacing county almshouses. Construction costs are 301 000 and 748 000 dollars respectively, to be funded by bonds issued under boards of managers. Each board would appoint sites, superintendents, staff, set salaries, and oversee operations. Inmates are limited to infirm, indigent, and chronic non infectious cases. private cases accepted when capacity allows at 1 dollar per day. Counties bear construction debts and annual per capita charges.

Ridgely Bank Robbed By Bandits

Robbers blasted into the Bank of Ridgely on Main Street early Monday morning and escaped with most of the contents. A local man was briefly detained then released. Detectives from Baltimore and fingerprint experts joined Sheriff Tarburton in the case. About $1,940 reportedly taken. a coal bucket with over $800 in silver was recovered. Authorities say six assailants possible, with varying eyewitness claims and no arrests yet.
