A White House Conference on Education will be held in Washington from November 28 to December 1, 1955. The Marshyhope Fish and Game Protective Association banquet drew at least 300 attendees in the Federalsburg school cafeteria on Friday March 11 with J O Williams serving as general chairman. Entertainment followed the meal including Miss Peggy Arnold and The Whittaker Bros. A membership drive added eleven new members as the club pushes to reach 200 active participants. A survey of Chambers Park Lake by Inland Fish and Game Commission is planned for April to assess fish stock needs.

Weather notes show showers, windy days, then cold and high winds, followed by fair frosty conditions.

Leadership Training School To Be Held Here
A Christian workers training school will run evenings March 20 to 25 at 7 30 in Denton Church of the Brethren for district churches. Denton Art Students Show Talent Judged by Buckner
Washington artist Melvin Buckner judged 97 paintings Sunday at the Denton Community Club House by students of the Denton School of Art. He praised the high caliber, noting prize winners among adults teens and children, with comments on technique, color, and taste. The show, first by the school run by Mrs. Nance Hall Asher, featured landscapes portraits and scenes of Denton and its environs and included a musical program by Peggy Van Dyke and Ormond L. Andrew Jr.

Events start at 10 with a tour of the loafing area and milking parlor, then dehorning hoof trimming demonstrations, a type demonstration, and two or three judging classes. Fire destroys Noble Lumber Co. in Federalsburg
A $100000 blaze leveled the J S Noble Lumber Company offices and warehouse in Federalsburg on Thursday morning last week. It began in the two story office and exploded two truckloads of paint cans, spreading flaming debris to the lumber, planing mill and joiner. Five fire companies fought the blaze. by 10 am only smouldering debris remained. Owner C Jerome Brown, insured, planned to rebuild. Fire chief offered no cause. Additional crews from Bridgeville Seaford Hurlock Preston assisted.

County Commissioners Push Referendum on Caroline County School Bond
Caroline County leaders urge General Assembly to permit a 1.6 million dollar bond to fund a central Consolidated Senior High School near the county center and add to Federalsburg School for grades 1 through 9. The plan would go to a June 1955 emergency referendum with voters approving or opposing a single financing option.
