An 18 year old, Charles Bradley Blades, was granted bail of $5,000 after a habeas corpus hearing before Judge J DeWeese Carter in Easton. George Nelson Blades, 49, was found dead with shotgun wounds. Prosecutors questioned sufficient evidence for first degree murder. The youth’s attorney was appointed, and he will face the May grand jury. Police noted marital trouble and the suspect’s claim he acted to protect his mother during a quarrel.

Caroline County firemen answered 24 alarms in February 17 rural and 7 town. Denton led with 11 alarms, Federalsburg 6. One Federalsburg fatality. They logged 333 hours and 172 miles, used 2150 ft of 1 in hose and other lengths, raised 352 ft ladders, and total fire loss was 3725 dollars with 850 insured.
