Public Health Board Meets With Community Health Plans
The Public Health Board met Tuesday with six members and one visitor. Mrs. Clayton Reynolds presented posters from the Philadelphia Interstate Dairy Council promoting milk wholesomeness for all ages to be shown in schools. National Negro Health Week will run April 3 to 10 with plans for progress in family doctor led community health service and a poster contest for schools. Four syphilis clinics operate countywide, including one at Union in the Colored M. E. Church near Goldsboro. a merchant allows nurse calls from his store one day weekly. One patient walked seven miles for his first treatment. School exams are done, enabling more home visits. Addresses have been made to women’s clubs and P.T.A. groups. Of 36 orthopedic clinic patients, corrections progress. Margaret McPheeters of the University of Maryland spoke at the Preston Child Study Club on children’s food problems. Nurses note teachers help keep communicable diseases in check. The loan closet received gifts from the Denton Community Club, but sheets and gowns are still needed.

February brought the mildest statewide weather in Maryland and Delaware since 1932 with below normal precipitation and light snowfall. Maryland reported a mean of 39.9 degrees, highest 42.8 at Solomons, lowest 34.7 at Sines, and rainfall 2.37 inches across 65 stations. notable 24-hour rainfall reached 1.78 inches at Bell on the 19th to 20th. Delaware's mean was 46.9 degrees, with Milford recording the high 41.6 and Wilmington 36.5. precipitation averaged 2.60 inches across 9 stations, greatest 3.42 inches at Millsboro, 24-hour peak 1.47 inches at Wilmington on the 19th to 20th. Snowfall averaged 3.0 inches in Delaware and 7.1 inches in Maryland, with the Maryland 24-hour snowfall maximum 7.0 inches at Lines on the 27th.

Maryland’s only single tax colony changes ownership
Gilpin's Point on the Choptank River near Denton, Maryland, the state's lone single tax colony, has been sold to Herbert Mason Jr. of Newark Delaware. The community, run as a leasehold with rents covering taxes, originated with Col. William Richardson and later housed Frank Boland, a Philadelphia artist, before its sale ends another chapter in its 100 acre history.
