The Harding Administration First Year Review

The piece credits President Harding with naval reductions and the Four Power treaty as the administration’s notable gains while faulting Congress for feebleness and party rifts. It notes stalled tariff revision and tax changes, unfulfilled promises, and a cautious president lacking broad grasp, with future clashes expected to reveal true leadership.

Maryland Hog Cholera Control Gains Through 1921 Report

Swine losses fell from 79 to 45 per thousand, saving about 7,175 head annually and $274,805 in value. Senator France warns Democrats on four power treaty

Maryland Senator Joseph Trwin France almost quit the Republican party after urging that Democrats win next fall if the Pacific four power treaty passes. He said he would leave the Senate rather than accept the treaty and repudiate George Washington. He urged Southern Senators to oppose foreign entanglements. He proclaimed the party repudiating Washington, not a Republican party, and threatened to go home.
